If everyone i had ever met became a chapter of my life story, you would be my favorite chapter.

5 years, 48,000 miles, 3 homes, and 2 kids later… you are still my one love.

So we went to the movies for our anniversary. We saw The Pursuit of Happiness. The last time we had been to the movies was last year… for our 4th anniversary!

Natalie and TMX Elmo

Natalie got one this year from the Colburn grandparents.

This little guy is amazing. Seriously.

He can really get you laughing after a little while.

He falls, rolls around on the floor, and has this one laugh that is so contagious.

Think of all the cool toys that came out this season and which one is best:

  • Wii
  • Play Station 3
  • TMX Elmo

Elmo wins hands down, is much more affordable, and less time consuming.

Check out the video, it speaks for itself. but make sure you have flash player version 9.

Bring on the Gifts

There is so much to do with family over the holiday season… i really am excited. It’s great to have a break from working, and have time to think. Our whole family has grown so much just in the last couple months. My parents have gone from having one grandkid (Natalie) to 5 (Natalie, Brian, Aurora, Alex & David). In a way it is very exciting… in another way it is very expensive.

I am going to suggest for the next Christmas (and you are welcome to steal my idea) that we all meet one day during the holidays for a gift party. a couple months before we find out who is going and put all the names in a hat and pick one. You have like a $50 dollar limit or something, and that is the only person you buy a gift/s for that year.

I may have stole the idea from The Fagens. I think it’s what their family does every year (and they have a huge family). I still need to iron out some more details before i pitch the idea.

Coming Attractions

Ministry is really a hard thing to define, or get a grasp on. As I listened to a tape (yes, some old cassette action) of Dean Trune’s teaching on “Listening to God” he mentioned that he expected to learn how to do campus ministry after years at Michigan State, but he only learned about having a relationship with God.

I am beginning to partner with another student ministry in Tucson called The Refuge. Bryan Lee directs the ministry, and i really just love the guy, and his exciting visionary style.

Would you pray that Julie and I would have wisdom as we explore what the partnership would look like?

I am also going to Passion ‘07. I am so excited about this. Impact is not having a leader’s retreat this year, so i took the opportunity to attend this conference as it may be the last Passion gathering of this nature.

I will also be taking some students to a 24-7 prayer conference in February called Take My Life.
It’s Friday & Saturday the 2nd & 3rd in Phoenix.

Keep us in prayer, and send me information on any U of A students you might know.

Season’s Sneezings

It’s almost Christmas. I can’t believe it. We have all been sick around the
Colburn house, and planning a lot of activities with family. Natalie is
2 now… crazy. “Two!” is her favorite word now. She had two birthday
parties: one with just immediate family in a cars theme (her new
favorite movie, and a second where we invited her “friends” (the kids
we force her to be friends with… it’s our job as parents!). We had an
awesome party and even played some games like pin the nose on Elmo (the
theme of the second party and the monster she is madly in love with),
and musical chairs.

check out the videos on the left sidebar - let me know if it works or doesn’t work.

A New Site

Anyone who has known me for any amount of time, or has been coming to our site
knows how often the entire site changes. Hopefully this will be a more
permanent change (yeah right! As Julie rolls her eyes.)

We are now using Wordpress and it will be much easier for us to keep updated. The style looks much like the new Pantano Christian Church beta site which Phil Cain and I have been working on. We actually based the churches site of this template.

We will work on importing all the archive posts…
